B2B Jewelry Wholesale: What to Include in Your First Inquiry

A practical guide to preparing a clear wholesale jewelry inquiry, comparing quotations and confirming product details before placing an order.

Ordering jewelry for a retail business involves more than choosing a design and asking for a price. A useful B2B jewelry wholesale inquiry identifies exactly what you want to buy, how many units you need and which details still require confirmation.

For boutiques, coastal gift shops and aquarium stores, this is particularly helpful when comparing sculpted rings, bangles and other ocean-inspired designs. Similar-looking products can differ in dimensions, material, finish and packaging.

Use this checklist to prepare an inquiry that is easier to quote and review.

1. Identify Each Design with a Product Code or Link

Start with a shortlist of specific products. Include the product code or page link beside each item, rather than sending a general request such as “Please quote your ocean jewelry.”

For example, a sea turtle relief ring, a manta ray statement ring and a wave bangle require separate specifications. A photograph helps identify the design, but it does not replace a product code or written description.

2. Separate Material from Surface Finish

A silver-colored product is not necessarily solid silver, and a gold-colored product is not necessarily made from solid gold.

For each selected design, ask the supplier to confirm the base material and any plating separately. Where applicable, identify your requested option clearly: stainless steel, silver-plated copper alloy or gold-plated copper alloy.

Also specify whether you prefer a polished, brushed or antiqued appearance. Confirm availability for the particular design instead of assuming every product can be supplied in every finish.

If your store needs evidence for a particular material or performance claim, request the relevant documentation before using that claim in your own listings.

3. State Quantities and Ask How the MOQ Applies

The minimum order quantity, or MOQ, is only useful when its scope is clear.

Ask whether the minimum applies per design, finish, size or complete order. For rings, confirm whether different sizes can be combined within one design’s minimum. For plated products, ask whether different finishes count as separate order lines.

For example, if an agreed minimum is 30 pieces per style, four styles would total at least 120 pieces before considering any separate size or finish requirements.

This is an example of order planning, not confirmation that every combination is available.

4. Confirm Ring and Bangle Measurements

Include the sizing system and requested quantities by size when asking for wholesale rings.

For bangles, request the internal dimensions and opening measurements where relevant. A closed bangle must pass over the hand, while an open cuff has a different fitting method.

Do not assume an open design is adjustable. Ask whether adjustment is intended and what limits apply.

Product images and wearing images are useful for understanding appearance, but written measurements and samples should guide fit decisions.

5. Include Packaging and Delivery Requirements

State whether you need individual bags, cards, boxes or another presentation format. Ask which packaging is included in the quoted price and which options cost extra.

Provide your delivery country, postal code and preferred arrival date. Distinguish the date you need the goods from the date they are dispatched.

When reviewing quotations, compare the same quantities and specifications. Check the currency, shipping, packaging charges, applicable import costs and any sample or setup charges separately.

6. Agree on a Sample and Quality Checklist

Before confirming a bulk jewelry order, discuss sample availability and what the sample will represent.

For an ocean-inspired ring or bracelet, useful checks include:

  • Dimensions and weight.
  • Surface finish and consistency.
  • Smoothness of edges and the inner band.
  • Details around fins, tails, claws and other projections.
  • Fastenings, where present.
  • Packaging and protection during transport.

Ask how differences between the approved sample and the delivered goods would be handled. Record the agreed specifications in writing.

7. Use a Clear Inquiry Format

Your first message can follow this structure:

Product codes or links:
Requested material and finish:
Quantity per design:
Ring sizes or bangle dimensions:
Packaging requirements:
Delivery country and postal code:
Preferred arrival date:
Sample requirements:

Please confirm the MOQ, available options, unit pricing, production lead time, shipping costs and quotation validity.

You do not need to know every answer before contacting a supplier. Mark uncertain items as “please advise” so they can be discussed explicitly.
